Hi,
The Margaret River Region has quickly become my favourite getaway in Western Australia.
Hidden Valley Forest Retreat offers a collection of cosy cabins, set within a peaceful forest setting, in the Margaret River Region.
Recently, we escaped our city life with a two-night stay in ‘Stone Stable’ at Hidden Valley Forest Retreat.
Come with me to full breakdown our experience staying here as a couple wanting to disconnect from the hustle and bustle.
Location: 4/5
Hidden Valley Forest Retreat is located in Carbunup River, about 25 minutes from both Margaret River and Dunsborough.
For us this was the perfect location to make base for a few days exploring the region!
The ‘Stone Stable’ is based on an avocado farm. Totally immersed in nature we had a treat to see some Kangaroo outside our cabin!
Each cabin at Hidden Valley Forest Retreat offers complete privacy, except for the Stone Stable, which is located very close to the owner’s house. If privacy is a priority for your stay, be sure to keep this in mind when choosing your cabin.
Here’s some itineraries of what you can explore and eat while your in the area:
Amenities: 5/5
I couldn’t fault the amenities at the retreat—the chalet truly felt like a home away from home.
With a kitchenette and outdoor barbecue area, we enjoyed the ease of cooking our own meals.
Highlights included the cosy log fire, outdoor spa bath, and barbecue. After a day out in the sea breeze, curling up by the fire was perfect.
We savored an outdoor feast by the barbecue and ended the evening relaxing in the spa bath.
The thoughtful details, like robes and towels, made our stay extra comfortable.
Room Experience: 3.5/5
I can’t stress enough how comfortable our king sized bed was- it exceeded all expectations, giving us the best sleep ever.
Plus, no need to scramble for sockets; they were perfectly placed for hassle-free phone charging.
The bedside lamps and fire burner on added a warm, cosy glow, making it the ideal spot to unwind after a day of exploring.
The only downside, our room didn’t have curtains on the glass doors. While I don’t mind waking up to natural light, the fence outside the glass doors didn’t offer enough privacy. With occasional passersby on the working farm, we felt a bit exposed.
Curtains or blinds would have been a welcome addition, but overall, the room was very spacious and clean to stay in.

Honourable Mentions
The customer service was fantastic, and everything was spotless in the cabin.
We loved having the smart TV for streaming our favorite shows and movies, entertainment was never an issue.
Plus, knowing our car was safely parked in the free parking area gave us added convenience and peace of mind.
Summary
Our stay at the Carbunup River retreat was unforgettable.
The serene avocado farm setting, paired with easy access to nearby attractions, made for a perfect experience.
Whether enjoying the peaceful retreat or exploring the surrounding area, every moment was a joy.
As always thank you for being here!
