Hiii,
Skincare has become my personality trait this year. Moving to Australia & seeing the no makeup- makeup culture, motivated me to invest in my skin. I genuinely never realised how important a regular skincare routine, using good products and knowing your skin type mattered! I also was obviously to how much travelling by plane effects your skin… I’m by no means an expert but here’s my skincare routine for a long haul flight and tips I’ve learnt along the way!
Long Haul Flight Skincare… Why?

Bambi Does Beauty is my go to for skincare tips online! She literally has every answer you’ll ever need. Everybody knows and feels the dry skin side effect of air travel. I’ve never ever done anything about it until June. We travel by plane for work, then travelling 26 hours twice in 3 weeks to go home and back. Needless to say, managing this is key to improving my skin!
Here’s the 3 principles I took from her advice which helped my skin! Moisturise, SPF & don’t be shy.
In my carry on liquids, I chose the most moisturising travel size skincare I owned. I also brought products that I’ve used before & know they don’t break my skin out.
For any Sephora lovers… I usually get my sample sizes with my points! Or if I want to try a product before committing to the full size, I’ll buy the travel size. KEEP THE CONTAINER! This way if you like the product & purchase the full size, you can just decant the product into the empty travel size again! Saving you some dolla!
Routine & Products

1. Cleanse.
I am not a face wipe girly. When travelling though, I am. I don’t wear makeup while travelling, the wipes are more to freshen up my face than to remove makeup. I don’t think it really matters which you use, but for curiosities sake, I used the Sephora ‘Aloe Vera’ wipes. They are cheap, disposable and light to pack. If do wear makeup, your probably best swapping this step for a cleansing balm and face cloth. At home I use and love the Body Shop ‘Camomile Cleansing Butter’.
2. Mask.
Trust me. This step may feel cringy but my skin felt incredible coming off this flight. The obvious benefit of this step is adding moisture back into your skin. It also acts as a barrier from all the nasties in the ventilated air! A cool fact I learnt from Glamour Magazine… I used Pathology ‘Get Dewy With It’ sheet mask. Cheap, cheerful and smaller packaging than my usual go to- Garnier Moisture Bomb. When you take your mask off, give your hands a sanitise & pat the left overs into your skin. It’s very therapeutic.
3. Eye cream.
A fairly new step to my skincare routine. I didn’t realise how important it was… Bambi talks about your under eyes being the first area of your face to show dehydration. After 26 hours of travel and going surprise our nearest and dearest… you best believe I didn’t want to look how I felt lol. I’ve been using and enjoying First Aid Beauty’s ‘Hydrating Eye Cream with Hyaluronic Acid’. This is my second tube and have seen great results with this!
4. Moisturise.
I go through moisturiser like there’s no tomorrow. I have combination skin. This adds an element of texture on my skin, minimising this is my main skincare focus. I have a few favourites but the most moisturising that I know and love are the Clinique ‘Moisture Surge’ & Glow Recipe ‘Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream’. I used Glow Recipe on the first flight and Clinique on the second. A dreamy combo if you ask me.
5. SPF.
This one shocked me. The UV exposure on a plane is much higher than on land. The higher you fly, the thinner the air becomes and in turn the UV index & risk of sun damage is also higher! I don’t want aging skin, I’m sure you don’t either. Who does? I have used this Naked Sundays ‘SPF 50+ Priming Lotion’ under makeup before and loved it! It has a slight tint, which blends really naturally. It’s also a glowy product, which is also part in parcel of why I chose to use this one. Looking fresh!
6. Lip Mask.
Being honest, I use this everyday. Using it on the plane for me was a no brainer. My all time favourite and will forever be my favourite Lineige ‘Lip Treatment Balm’! Not the overnight mask though. This is a clear/ pearly lip treatment, which a little applicator in the lid. I love this feature because it’s never getting grubby! If there’s anything to try from this post, it’s this product. I’ve used 3 tubs & will forever buy it. Always silky smooth!
This my friends is the skincare routine I used for our 20 hours of flying & 3 hours bussing. I can confirm I felt fresher and looked more presentable than I usually do after a long flight! Take care of your skin girls, on and off our flights. Good skin glows a mile away and makes your makeup look even better! It’s worth the investment and time!
