Perth | Best Walking Spots

Hiii,

A fun travel blog this week for spending time in Perth! If you know me, I love a good walk. I will say, I am very weary of where I’m walking now. Does it have a footpath? Is there parking nearby? Is there anything else to do in the area? Granted it’s hard to find this info online, but that’s what I’m writing this for! Maybe we can make a series out of this?

Kings Park

Kings Park is the worlds largest park in a city! Needless to say there’s a wide variety of short and long walks spots around the park. With an area this size, you also have lots of gorgeous views & cool things to do!

Footpaths: YES

Everywhere you walk here has some form of path. Footpaths along the road, grids through the bush areas of the park & lots of green grass to walk through in the park itself! Safe and sound.

Parking: YES

Lots of parking… and it’s FREE! No need to worry about bringing change, all parking is free. There is a main car park behind the visitor centre (click here to open maps). Don’t worry if you can’t find a space here, there is lots of parking available dotted throughout the park!

Things to Do

Picnic. Over the 8 months we’ve been living here in Perth we’ve used the picnic tables to enjoy our favourite takeaways! We’ve also brought a blanket and had proper picnic on the grass too. Be aware though of bug bites, no one wants itchy skin. There is also FREE barbecues at the Fraser Avenue car park! Along with covered picnic areas. It’s truly the best place in the city for a picnic!

Scarborough – Trigg

Scarborough in general is a vibe. Chill vibes to be specific. You have so many options for walks when you park in Scarborough esplanade, but the walk to Trigg will always be my favourite! If you enjoy a stunning ocean view, then you will love this walk as much as me.

Footpath: YES

Sandy toes or footpath options are available! You can walk on the beach itself from Scarborough to Trigg or beyond, where you will be safe from vehicles on your walk. Or you can take the footpath, which still over looks the beautiful beach and ocean view! Be aware though of scooters zooming by…

Parking: YES

If you decide to walk from Scarborough or Trigg side you will be treated with FREE parking! I mentioned above you can park on The Esplanade for free or at Trigg. On really nice days, it can be difficult to get the free parking. There is Wilson parking available behind the esplanade, where you will have to pay via the parking app.

Things to Do

Bowl & Pizza. The Lookout is a fantastic spot for food and a cocktail at the best of times but they also have a bowling alley! On Monday nights they do a $20 bowl and pizza offer, which could be a nice treat after a beach walk.

Markets. Enjoy the winter or summer markets in Scarborough! The area is flooded with crafty stalls, delicious food vans with food from around the world and gorgeous jewellery & crystal pop ups. During the summer we loved coming here on a Thursday night for dinner & dessert… then walk it off going to Trigg and back!

Elizabeth Quay

If you know me personally or follow my Instagram… you knew this was going to make the top 3 walking spots. Whole heartedly, my all time favourite walk at night. You can see in the picture why!

Footpath: YES

Luckily the entire walk is accommodated with footpaths! It’s a short walk but you can make it longer if you decide to walk further up the quay, which is also has footpaths. This is one of the main reasons why I love it so much!

Parking: YES

If like me you want to enjoy this walk at night, you will have FREE parking available from 6pm in the City of Perth Parking. On the other hand, if you plan walking here before 6pm, you will have to pay by cash or card for your ticket.

Things to Do

Boat Trip. Jump on Transperth from Elizabeth Quay to South Perth for $3.45. Yep. That’s all. We done it at night & the view of the city was insane. It was for sure a cute add on to our usual evening stroll!

Have an Ice Cream. After you’ve walked the gorgeous loop, over the bridge and past the carousel, you find Baskin Robbins. Famously we stop here the night before we go back to work, get an ice cream (always cookie dough) & soak in the city lights. Simple.

Just a little bonus of things to do… when your walking from the car park to Elizabeth Quay, you pass The Foreshore park! It’s a lovely open space where you can add some extra steps in on your walk. As you leave the park and cross the road you will also get to see the iconic Bell Tower. This is 100% worth seeing it lit up at nighttime!

As a whole, I hope you gained some inspiration for exploring around Perth! I have so many more walks that I loved and beautiful site seeing around them. If you enjoyed this travel blog, leave a little emoji in the comments & I will continue this series!
