Hiii,
I can’t believe our 26 days of traveling Southeast Asia is over! Some may say 26 days is a long time, but when it comes down to it, we stayed 60 hours in mists locations. This was to try do & see as much as possible, in this limited amount of time! We had an incredible time in Singapore & can’t recommend it enough for a fun long weekend trip! Here’s all the details of what we done, where we stayed, how we got around & how much it cost. A first time travellers 101 guide to Singapore!
How We Got Around
Grab is a taxi service, very similar to Uber or Lyft! Download the app on your phone, set up an account, link your card details & the rest is history.
We did try to use the train services, but truthfully we struggled with the language barrier. I know there are others, who have a breeze with this. We didn’t. Personally we got really overwhelmed, couldn’t figure out where to even buy the tickets.
Buses felt much more simple to navigate than the trains! Considering our limited time in Singapore, we opted for a bus tour to see as many landmarks as possible! Big Bus Tours was our choice of tours, mainly because their pickup point was closest to our hotel & it was within our budget. I’ll talk more about price in the price breakdown section! However, if you want to read about where stayed you can read this blog later:
Activities To Do
- Universal– Absolute must do! While it’s not on the same scale as Universal Orlando, it was still one of the best days of our trip. Everything is themed to perfection, plenty of big thrill rides and generally low wait times on everything! We didn’t love the food but other than that, it was a day we’ll spent.
- Roof Top Bar/Dinner– Lavo in the Marina Bay Sands Hotel was an experience of a lifetime! It’s recommended to make a reservation. On our visit we waited around 40 minutes for a walk in table! I would have waited over an hour to have the dinner experience we had. Stunning view of the city, 1st class service and delicious food. This is a pricey experience but completely worth it, if your budget allows for it.
- Bus Tour– I mentioned this in the last section and honestly I really recommend it. In our experience it’s the quickest and easiest way to do the cities main attractions and landmarks! Keeps costs down too.
- Market Shopping– Your in a huge city but there is so much culture in the market areas! I loved the entire shopping experience in Bugis, which I’ll talk more about in the next section.
- Gardens By The Bay– Another must do! We nearly almost didn’t do it because I thought it was too pricey. In hindsight, I’m so glad we spent the money & done it! With that being said, if you are looking to save some money you could skip the flower dome.
- Sky Flyer– Unfortunately, we didn’t get to do the ferris wheel because of the rain storm. Although, we did drive past it & it looked incredible.

Sites To See
- Little India– This is one of the places I felt there was the most culture in Singapore! A close knit community, thriving with markets, authentic food & gorgeous temples. Again the rain limited how much time we spent here, but the time we did spend exploring, we loved!
- Bugis Area– High street shops, more markets and food centres galore. Genuinely you could spend an entire day exploring this area of Singapore!
- Sultan Temple– One of the many beautiful temples in Singapore, but I thought I would point this one out because it’s in such close proximity to the Bugis Area!
- Marina Bay Sands– This is where we watched the New Year’s Eve fireworks and couldn’t believe the sheer size of the area. We thought it was the two buildings you see pictures of, but there’s a buzz all around the water! The food scene here was our personal favourite for variety.

Price breakdown
Before going to Singapore, many people said it could be a pricey trip. Despite looking on TikTok and travel blogs, it was hard to find details on the budget needed. As a young couple, here’s what we spent during a three-day stay in Singapore! Remember, these costs are in Singapore Dollars. You might want to convert them to your own currency to plan your budget.
- Shopping/ Miscellaneous- $81.80
- Transport- $116.30
- Attractions/ Activities- $412.20
- Food- $570.44
Spending 60 hours in Singapore cost us $1,180.74, making it the most expensive part of our 26-day trip. However, we expected this because Singapore is known to be costly. The food was amazing, especially a memorable meal we had at Lavo in the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. This fancy dinner did increase our food costs, but we felt it was worth it. You can save money on food in Singapore if you choose to eat at simple cafes or places like 7/11.
I hope this helps you plan your travels to Singapore & if you are going give me a text on Instagram! I’d love to see your travel experience too!
Next weeks blog is going to be a rundown of all our hotel experience’s in Thailand, subscribe your email to be notified!
