Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 | Is It Worth The Hype?

Hiii,

Instant print cameras and pictures is something I have wanted since that start of Pinterest days… I’ve always wanted one, it was only this year I bit the bullet & treated myself to one! After doing some research one which camera was easiest used, highest rate of usable photographs, the Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 became a no brainier. Travelling, picture taking, 20 prints and scrapbooking later… Is The Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 Worth The Hype?

Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 vs Instax Mini 9

When looking into which instant print cameras was easiest to use, I was very clear Fujifilm Instax is trusted by beginners. This is perfect for my needs. Narrowing it down to which brand I was going with, I needed to look into which camera. Instax Mini 9 is several years older than the Instax Mini 11, naturally making it cheaper. However, after looking at the specs on both cameras, Instax Mini 11 is more beginner friendly! Instax Mini 11 automatically adjusting the light exposure on your photographs, gives me confidence I wont waste a print, knowing they won’t be too bright or dark. Instax Mini 9 doesn’t offer this luxury & needs to be manually adjusted, this didn’t feel as beginner friendly to me. A selfie mode, is built into this camera unlike the Instax Mini 9 which requires you to have a separate attachment. Less to carry around, especially when travelling is a major plus for me! All in all, for my needs and abilities I chose the Instax Mini 11 was best for me.

Price

Retailing for $79 in Australia or £75 back at home, they are budget friendly! I bought mine from Facebook marketplace. The camera, 20 sheets of film & scrapbook stickers to hold them in place came to a total of $50! I definitely recommend having a look on marketplace, many people buy one for an a one off occasion, then sell it after the event! A 20 pack of film costs around $30-35 making each print $1.65. This is where it can be more expensive than printing images from your phone or digital camera. I use this camera to capture specific moments or memories, taking 3 months to use all 20 prints. Using it in this manor reduces the pace of using all the film and less of an issue for budget. Again, check marketplace out for film! Overall I think the Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 is affordable & the film is only as expensive as you make it.

Pictures

As I mentioned I only use this camera to capture specific memories & I store these in a scrapbook! The prints are credit card size, 86x54mm including the frame. This is perfect size for an A5 scrapbook, fitting up to 4 prints per page. When I purchased my camera second hand the lady gave me mounting corner stickers which holds the prints in place in a scrapbook without glue! These are very cheap on Amazon. The quality of the pictures are what you expect an instant photo to look like, lower quality than a digital camera but fantastic colours! I got some incredible pictures on our Gold Coast trip in the rainforest and in Byron Bay… you can have a look for yourself! The greens and blues really come up beautifully in these prints.

Aesthetics

The Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 is available in black, white & 4 pastel colours: pink, blue, purple & green. Naturally I opted for pink! The aesthetic of the camera itself 100% fulfils my 13 year old Pinterest heart. I truly love how it looks & makes a really cute prop for a candid photo on a digital camera! Can you really tell I’ve been dreaming of having one for the last 10 years lol. Asides from the camera aesthetics, Fujifilm offers a range of film frames! You can see from the pictures on this blog, I’ve only used the white frame. However, you can easily switch this out for a range of 8 patterned frames, 4 block coloured frames, 3 ombré frames or monochrome print! This is a fun way to jazz up your prints without any additional work. This is also a great add on for any fellow scrapbookers! Granted these fun film patterns costs more than the standard white frames, 20 sheets cost around $40-$65.

Overall, I think it’s fair to say the Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 is worth the hype! It’s lived up to my expectations of easy use, cool prints and fun taking the pictures. There’s something very special about using it for specific purposes, rather than snapping something 101 times for the perfect picture. Genuinely, I’m so glad I finally bought an instant print camera, simultaneously I’m very happy with my choice of camera. Go live up your Pinterest dream & treat yourself to an instant camera. You will have the most fun!
